Infrared Sweat FAQs

Q: What is an infrared sweat bed/How does infrared sweating work?

A: Our infrared sweat bed is a specialized device that uses infrared light-wave radiation and localized infrared heat to raise your core body temperature, promoting a deep, detoxifying sweat while you relax lying down. It’s like a full-body sauna session — but more efficient and much more comfortable. The therapeutic effects of infrared sweating is caused by the electro magnetic radiation spectrum. This heat & light combo helps relax and initiate detoxification within the body on a cellular level, causing you to sweat deep from within, releasing stored toxins & fat cells.

Q: How is it different from a traditional sauna?

A: Infrared heat penetrates deeper into your body than traditional saunas, promoting internal heat and sweating at lower temperatures (usually 130–160°F). This makes it easier to tolerate while providing more profound detox, relaxation, and therapeutic benefits. The most notable difference between our technology and a traditional sauna is that you can detox while comfortably lying down with your head fully outside of the sauna so that you can breathe clearly, easily, and freely. This is beneficial for clients who have a hard time breathing or dealing with the heat of a traditional sauna.

Q: Is infrared sweating safe?

A: Yes — infrared therapy is gentle, non-invasive, and completely safe for most people. It’s been used for decades in health and wellness settings. If you have certain health conditions that you are concerned with, or that may prevent you from sweating, we recommend consulting with your doctor first.

Q: How long is a sweat session?

A: Each Infrared Sweat Session lasts approximately 1 hour PLUS 15-20min. You will be lying down in the sweat bed for a total of 60 min, with a 15-20 min cool down time afterwards, to decompress, and enjoy your tea & orange slices provided to renourish the body.

Q: What do I wear during my sweat session?

A: We at TOXXLAB will provide an oversized and comfy change of clothes for you to wear during your sweat session. You do not need to bring your own clothes.

*NOTE: Please remove all undergarments when changing for your sweat session.

Q: What happens during my sweat session?

A: You will be lead back to your private sweat room where you will be able to change into sweat clothes for your session.
Once ready we will guide you into your sweat bed and begin any programs or music that you would like to catch up on.
Then we will start your timer for 60 min to begin your sweat.
We provide you with plenty of water to keep you hydrated during your sweat.
Then we will leave you be to relax and enjoy the process of your sweat session.
After 15 min we will re-enter your room to check on you to make sure everything is alright with a “thumbs up”.
At the 45-minute mark we will re-enter your room again to provide you with a cool eucalyptus and lavender-infused towelette for your forehead.
Around this time is where you will feel the most intense and powerful portion of your sweat. Your body is working diligently in these last 20 minutes to detox and rid of unwanted toxins.
Once again we leave you to finish the last 15 minute of your powerful hour of sweating.
Once your 60 min is complete we will assist you out of your sweat bed and transition you to move to your chair where you can feel free to relax, come-down, and enjoy some much-deserved tea and oranges to re-nourish your body after a job well done.
After you feel that you have relaxed, you are ready to change back into your personal clothes and finish your time at TOXXLAB.
Feel free to shop our athleisure and home offerings or chat with us afterwards!

Q: Can sweating really help me lose weight?

A: While most immediate weight loss is from water loss, infrared therapy boosts metabolism, circulation, and increases calorie burn — which can support a healthy weight loss routine when paired with proper diet and exercise. You can burn up to 600 calories during the 36-hour window during and after your sweat session.

Q: Will I really sweat that much lying still?

A: Yes! The infrared heat raises your internal temperature, causing a deep sweat without needing to move. Clients are often surprised at how much they sweat without doing any exercise! Especially if you stay adequately hydrated!

Q: How does the human body react to infrared sweating?

A: Infrared sauna treatments cause reactions in the body that include:

-increased, accelerated sweating

-increased heart rate, making this experience a cardiovascular workout

-the same type of clarity-of-mind & heightened sense of self awareness, & feelings similar to moderate exercise

- relaxation responses triggered by the body’s parasympathetic system

Q: What are some of the benefits of infrared sweating?

A: Some of the most loved benefits include:

  • Detoxification: Supports elimination of toxins and heavy metals through sweat

  • Weight & Water Loss: Burn up to approximately ~600 total calories per one 36-hour span during and after your session

  • Muscle & Joint Relief: Reduces tension, soreness, and inflammation

  • Better Sleep: Calms the nervous system for improved rest so your body can repair and re-build

  • Glowing Skin: Boosts circulation and purges impurities from your derma layers

  • Stress Reduction: Relaxation on a cellular level

Q: What should I do after my session?

A: Hydration is key! Drink plenty of water, and consider a light, nourishing snack. Eat clean. And most importantly, relax and recharge after your cool-down. ALSO - We recommend that you DO NOT shower for at least 2 HOURS following your session as to not interrupt your body’s natural temperature regulation, as you are still in the process of burning maximum calories.

Q: Will I feel tired afterward?

A: You may feel calm, relaxed, or even a little sleepy, and ready for a nap, especially if you’ve released a lot of toxins or tension. Others feel elated, energized and uplifted. Every body responds a little differently — and that’s okay!

Q: Who should avoid infrared sweat beds?

A: Avoid infrared sweating if you are:

  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding

  • Have a heart condition or pacemaker

  • Currently intoxicated, drunk, dehydrated, or malnourished

  • Diagnosed with certain illnesses (consult your doctor first)
